For more than 20 years Rotary has provided staff to cook and serve the Gunfire Breakfast at the Morphett Vale RSL.
This year with the help of Port Noarlunga 1st Sea Scouts, Merilyn, Dini, Tracy, Marion, Rose, Sandy, Chris, Phil, Terry and Garry enjoyed an early morning start to cook breakfast of bacon and eggs to be served in rolls to those commemorating this ANZAC Day.

it's a tie!
Australian Rotary Health gained funds for research into mental health from a bit of fun at our last meeting in April. An 'Ugly tie' competition bought out the merely ugly, the extremely ugly and the unbelievably ugly residents of the tie world.
The supreme winner was Christine with an old [very old] tie of her late husband Dennis. A disintegrating cow tie complete with 3D face and hanging pink udders. The other winners included a Christmas tie with flashing red nose on Father Christmas and an assortment of character and ugly print ties.
Xanthe stole the show with a black and yellow print tie accenting beautifully with her glossy black coat.
I think Jody will enjoy her wine prize though.

Glenthorne National Park

President Merilyn thanks Jarrod Eaton, the project coordinator for Glenthorne National Park located on the former CSIRO research property at O’Halloran Hill. Jarrod has the responsibility for delivering the infrastructure project vision for the property through the construction projects such as the trail network, roads, car parking, visitor hub and working with other groups in the National Parks and Wildlife Service on revegetation actions.

Glenthorne National Park-Ityamaiitpinna Yarta is one of Adelaide’s newest national parks, and is located 16 km south of Adelaide in the suburb of O’Halloran Hill.

It incorporates the Glenthorne farm property and adjacent O’Halloran Hill Recreation Park and, in time, will connect with other parks and parcels of land in Adelaide’s south to form the Glenthorne Precinct.

The Glenthorne Precinct includes Hallett Cove Conservation Park, Marino Conservation Park, areas of the Field River Valley and Happy Valley Reservoir, which is now open for visitor recreation.

Guess who is coming to dinner again?
After the success of the previous 'Guess' Dinner another social night has been planned for Saturday May 14

"Guess who is coming to dinner"

Members and friends nominate to either be a guest or a host and neither the guests nor the hosts know who will be arriving to share their meal.

This is a fun night for all and is a great opportunity to make new friends and get to know old friends better.

Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS? is part of the 4 way test Rotarians use to test the value of all that we say and do.

Contact Raelene for details.

Spirit of Woman in Seaford

Where do you go for peace and contemplation? To grieve, reflect and heal.
Where can you gain courage from stories of the courage of others?

Spirit of Woman's 'Place of courage'  is a community art project envisioned by Helen Oxenham, who has devoted her life to helping victims and children of domestic violence.

Ripples spread out from the first contemplative space in Adelaide's city parklands, another in Rotary Park at Christies Beach  to the latest space at Seaford adjacent to the Seaford Community Centre on Beachwood Grove.

Amongst those attending the launch were President Merilyn, Dini and Marion.

The Artist Clancy Warner described the artistic process of selecting and placing the elements in the design.
